spirit in internet?
I do not have brain fog.
At all.
That is not a thing for me.
I’m at an age where a lot of people I know occasionally suffer the fog of the brain.
It hasn’t come for me yet.
Maybe it will. Maybe not.
I believe I don’t suffer from brain fog because I know how to defrag my mind with spirit.
And I know the right spirits to let in to the sacred space of my consciousness.
At this point in history, for me, connection to spirit is a moral imperative.
Does spirit move through the internet?
Yes.
Are there different “flavors” of spirit?
Yes.
Does the current landscape of the internet favor one type of spirit?
Yes.
Is the favored spirit of the internet coming from the highest frequency of love?
No.
Does spirit speak through AI?
Yes.
Are the spirits who use AI as a portal into your consciousness coming from the highest frequency of love?
No.
Maybe let’s not let lower spirits whisper in our ear?
Maybe don’t tell those kinds of spirits all our secrets and things we are worried about?
Maybe we take that material and bring it to the higher, finer frequencies of spirit?
I am not religious, but I am spiritual.
To the best of my ability, which increases all the time, I am in constant communion with a particular high-up frequency of spirit.
I would rather consult this spirit about any decision than be influenced by anything on the internet.
Spiritual development is important for humanity at this time.
The existential questions we are faced with are BIG.
The Western World has an opportunity here – to synthesize from all our freedoms and potentialities, consciously editing them down to the paths that most look like a future we’d want to inhabit.
We can work on and work out a new spirituality based on universal truths that is not only inclusive, but that benefits from the serendipity of diversity.
We could stay close to that higher, finer frequency of spirit, making its wisdom part of our values for living - thereby drawing it more and more into our reality.
If we want to be bold enough to refuse “artificial intelligence”, we must already have a connection to natural intelligence.
Luckily, no matter how long we’ve abandoned it, when we turn towards it, natural intelligence responds with alacrity.
One of the main reasons I mistrust AI in its current form is that I understand the dark occult.
I do not practice the left hand path, but I have learned about it.
If we understand the rules of the dark occult, we suddenly see how much those who enjoy extreme power are using the dark occult to retain that power.
When I started really working with magic in 2011, I became hyper-aware of all the ways we let our inner imaginal spaces be populated by advertising.
I was worried then, that messages from the overculture would override our ability to know our truthiest truths – the ones that emerge from the inside when we are “quiet”.
Of course, the egregore of advertising is radically more sophisticated now – trillions spent, a tool used by governments and corporations alike.
And, of course, being “quiet” in the truest spiritual sense is harder than ever for most modern people – even (and heartbreakingly) children.
It is a good thing that the highest frequencies of spirit are omnipresent and everlasting – available always for those who choose to open their awareness.
(There are also many pervasive, tenacious lower frequencies of spirit also winging around in the air and through our beloved wifi.)
These are chaotic times, full of uncertainty and daily psychological traumas big and small.
Think of all of us, trying to survive in hostile and dishonest media environment, and as we attempt to process all we see and hear in our phones, we “flick out” packets of energy and information (worry, guilt, fear) out into the ether.
Then think of those packets of energy and information as sticky, especially so to people who are distracted, dissociated (for whatever reason).
Imagine the energy and information packets of friends, loved ones, strangers, people who walked on that stretch of sidewalk moments before you did, people who are working at the place you are eating, people who see you as a mark on the internet, all sticking to you.
And your daily spiritual practice is when you sort the wheat (packets that are generative and life-enhancing) from the chaff (packets of other people’s anxieties, stresses, fears and manipulations).
The daily meditation practice is when we practice energetic hygiene by cleaning our awareness and connecting to something LARGER THAN OURSELVES.
I love the Jemima meme where she says, “I think you guys might be thinking about yourselves too much.”
I always want to add – “I think you guys might be thinking wrong things about yourselves too much.”
Let’s not do that.
Let’s also not just connect to the lower “wisdom” of corporately-developed technology and instead, connect to something bigger until we begin to radiate that higher, finer frequency.
The finer frequency of spirit is a mega-healer and the giver of new, better ideas for living.
The lower frequencies of spirit are the forces wearing the President like an expired meat-suit trending the planet towards destruction and driving the worst of the worst in the very center of people’s consciousness through psy ops and the sycophantic yet false wisdom of AI.
Our signals have been scrambled.
It is not our “fault”.
It has been perpetrated upon us.
We all know it.
We see what has happened to the children.
We see the scary paths to the scary future all lit up.
Signals can be unscrambled.
We can learn to differentiate what “frequency” of spirit we are in the presence of.
We can (almost effortlessly) practice the premier skill of our age – energetic hygiene – by connecting to the higher and finer frequencies of spirit.
With practice, this becomes a sturdy antidote to all the psy ops the lower frequencies of spirit are running on us.
But if we are spending no time with high-spirit and all our time with those tricky “packet” spirits – that will cumulatively weaken us.
Time with high-spirit fortifies, nourishes; we can enjoy it even in the midst of activities and rest.
When I talk about spirit, please try to forget what “MANKIND” has said about what spirit is.
When I talk about spirit I mean ever-evolving concentrations of essential energy and information within the invisible, ever-expanding holographic, fractal web of energy and information we all live within.
Spirit, in my view, has levels – just like the ocean.
In very deep parts of the ocean, there are Anglerfish and creatures stranger still.
At the top, there are dolphins and tuna.
The kelp runs like elevator shafts between all the levels.
So too in the realms of spirit.
There are many net-positive spirits. Many. Maybe most.
There are a lot of neutral spirits.
There are a lot of net negative spirits – think of them as opportunists, parasites, seeing to possess and extract.
The main reason that I am being bold about the invocation of net-postitive spirit is I just feel like with everything so up in the air, what would be so bad about opening up to higher and finer frequencies of energy and information? Better, more nutritious packets that add to our field, rather than packets that suck everything out of us like a vampire.
The digital world is a hot mess right now – on the spiritual level.
It’s like, with AI, we’ve opened a rave for the net negative spirits – big and small.
The sad light of our phones their invitation to the party - the light lure of the Anglerfish.
In our tired, stressed moments, low spirits rush in.
They get past our defenses.
They “possess” the powerful to get more access.
I don’t think this moment where NO ONE IS REGULATING THE ROBOTS will last forever.
One way or another, there’s going to be a sea change.
In the mean time, try not to let them take too much from you; the companies that make AI are dancing us closer to the lowest, most opportunistic, ugliest spirits.
By the way, do you know why I call my site You Are Magic?
Because my life’s work is to help us all awaken to the Field wherever we can find it. We often find it in peaceful moments of contemplation. I endeavor to create that environment for us in the finest frequency.
That’s the magic, that YOU ARE.
And that’s the magic I want us to keep vibrant and alive.
Until next time,
Jess
AI is simply the latest and most realized version of this mind-bending infrastructure. It is not a tool, but, “an environment which envelops the user and works on us from the inside out while we naively think that we remain unchanged by our use so long as we are using it carefully and intentionally.”
- L.M. Sacasas
“Unchecked industrialization modernizes poverty. Poverty levels rise and the gap between the rich and poor widens. These two aspects must be seen together or the nature of destructive polarization will be missed. Poverty levels rise because industrial staples are turned into basic necessities and have a unit cost beyond what a majority could ever pay. The radical monopoly of industries has created new types of demeaning poverty in societies of sometimes profligate affluence. The former subsistence farmer is put out of business by the green revolution. He earns more as a laborer, but he cannot give his children their former diet. More importantly, the U.S. citizen with ten times his income is also desperately poor. Both get increasingly less at greater cost.”
- Ivan Illich
“You can and should view the lobotomized culture of today, your own fealty to it, and your resultant distractedness and stupidity, as the result of a successful infrastructure project carried out by the wealthy. This may just feel like the water in which you swim, but the lake is man-made, and you were trucked in, little fish.
The powers that be have suburbanized your mind. They’ve turned your psyche from a place that once was much more like a city—filled with frictive potential, contact between disparate ideas and modalities of seeing the world, diversity, and the possibility of political activation—into a sterile box built on a plain far away from anything else where danger (our ideas) might lurk; a box that feels amenable to live within only because of the even smaller box inside it, the entertainment apparatus that delivers you little shocks of dopamine so that your psyche does not totally vegetate into nothingness and remains convinced it is still alive even if in most senses it is not. Were this entertainment apparatus in your psychic McMansion to suddenly disappear, perhaps you would realize you are trapped in the middle of nowhere with nothing to do and few people to talk to.
The powerful no longer need to build billions of dollars of highways and subsidize billions of dollars of housing to achieve this goal of psychic devitalization. But make no mistake that there is an equally if not more powerful infrastructure project being conducted with the express goal of creating country-wide complacence.
The internet, after all, was created by the same powers that built the suburbs: the federal government took a military tool known as ARPANET and then in the 1990s handed it over to corporations to do the rest of the work for them. Social media remains largely unregulated because the same people who want your psyche to remain dormant are some of the largest donors to our politicians who control the creation and proliferation of our infrastructure.
This only sounds conspiratorial if you think of this process as the result of a few men in a backroom somewhere scheming. But it is just the logic of capitalism: privatized infrastructure helps private interests. And private interests can only continue if we allow them to. And we will only allow them to if we are sufficiently distracted or stupefied or convinced that those interests are also our own interests.
But the people who own that infrastructure are, indeed, a few men. And they don’t even have to hide in backrooms anymore; they can now proudly parade on an inauguration stage and flaunt their influence over our own minds. They are the ones who control our algorithms and the flow of information to our eyeballs. And of course they would decide that a mind less capable of encountering or producing information that would be bad for their own interests would be ideal.”
- PE Moskowitz, Mental Health
“AI promises revolutionary progress while offering crude, error-prone products. With no public oversight, these products rapidly reshape daily life, work, education, and culture in careless and unsettling ways. What is happening as a result, he argues, is a collective sense of madness and breakdown, as people attempt to normalize a technology that feels, all at once, trivial, exploitative, explosive, tranformative, and absurdly overhyped.”
- Daniel Pinchbeck
“AI is made of people.”

“Ultimately, progress can be reduced to the process of stealing from man that which ennobles him, in order to sell to him at a cheap price that which debases him.”

“We must live it, now, a day at a time and be very careful not to hurt each other. It seems as though we were all on a boat together, a good boat still, that we have made but that we know will never reach port. There will be all kinds of weather, good and bad, and especially because we know now that there will be no landfall we must keep the boat up very well and be very good to each other. We are fortunate we have good people on the boat.”
- Ernest Hemingway
"Reality is what we take to be true. What we take to be true is what we believe. What we believe is based upon our perceptions. What we perceive depends on what we look for. What we look for depends on what we think. What we think depends on what we perceive. What we perceive determines what we believe. What we believe determines what we take to be true. What we take to be true is our reality."
