THERE'S A LOT OF WORDS OUT THERE
Right now there is a lot of talking going on, and in a lot of ways that is good. Together we are helping ourselves (and others) process everything that is happening and adjust to a lot of unknowns.
But sometimes it’s nice (and necessary) to experience time without so many words, so I wanted to suggest some things you can listen to that are spiritually helpful and healing even though none of them feature words.
Binaural Beats of YouTube - There are a million of them, find one you like. I usually search “Binaural Beats and Focus” or whatever. Then I like to lay down, cover my eyes and listen. This is a very nice alternative to a nap and always leaves me feeling better than when I started. (free)
Pure Sound - Use any piece of music that is wordless AND uplifting and listen in a contemplative way. I LOVE this piece that Electric Sound Bath made for us, it’s even nice on a walk or while you are doing little chores. ($5 or included for Streamers). There is also a mini Electric Sound Bath track you can listen to here for free.
Drumming on YouTube - I like Michael Harner’s 15 minute shamanic journey for a drumbeat. It’s nice in the background for meditation and also linking your heartbeat to the heartbeat of the earth, etc. (free)
Nature Sounds - This is just looped birdsong I made for myself years ago, but it is quite nice to listen to on a walk, or sitting in any outdoor location. (free)
Classical Music - I found a Bach playlist on Spotify and love the things his music does to my mind, it’s like it de-frags me. (free-ish)
I’m sure there are more, just want to encourage you to spend a few minutes a day with the kinds of beautiful sounds that can balance all the hard things we are hearing.
To use any piece of music or soundscape for contemplation/meditation, simply start with an awareness of the feeling of breathing and then transition to becoming one with the flow of sound, almost like you can ride the sound like it’s a river current. From there, insights will flow in, healing will flow in, as will many other great things.
